Buitenhaven

The old outer port, known as the ‘Buitenhaven’, is managed by the municipality of Hoorn and offers 35 berths, mostly for charter ships and cruise ships. In addition, it is also possible for passers-by to moor at the port. The harbour is protected by a dike that closes the water off Markermeer and is accessible via the ‘Grote Gat’, which is Dutch for ‘Big Hole’. You will find this passage at the lighthouse. The old town of Hoorn is quickly accessible from the Buitenhaven port, within a few walking minutes you are in the center of the city.
